The Women in Power Training Program (WIPT) is designed for female university graduates with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering who are eager to build a successful career in the renewable energy sector. At Daystar Power, we believe diversity drives innovation and success. Yet, across Africa, women remain greatly underrepresented in engineering roles, in Nigeria, less than 10% of engineering students are women.
Recognizing this gap, we launched WIPT in 2019 to bridge the university-to-career pipeline for female engineers and provide the technical skills, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive in the fast-growing solar energy industry. Our comprehensive program combines hands-on training, industry expertise, and professional development to create the next generation of female leaders in renewable energy.

Since its inception, WIPT has empowered dozens of young female engineers by equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to excel in the power sector. Graduates of the program have gone on to build rewarding careers, contribute to sustainability, and drive innovation in renewable energy across Africa.
Our graduates are not just employees - they're leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are transforming the renewable energy landscape across the continent.
At Daystar Power, we are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and empowering workplace. As a proud 2x Challenge pledgee, we aim to ensure that 40% of our engineering and senior management roles are filled by women by 2026.
WIPT plays a key role in achieving this goal by investing in the next generation of female technical leaders and creating a pipeline of talented female engineers ready to lead Africa's energy transformation.
