Let’s be real, manufacturing in Nigeria isn’t for the faint of heart. Between energy instability and the skyrocketing cost of other sources of energy, keeping the machines running is a constant hustle.

That’s why one of our latest project at Daystar Power is such a win. We’ve officially powered up a major solar installation for Beta Glass at their Agbara facility. If you’ve ever held a glass bottle in Nigeria, there’s a good chance it came from these guys. Now, those bottles are being made with a a lot more sunshine and a lot less carbon.

The Breakdown: By the Numbers

We didn’t just add a few panels; we integrated a hybrid system that works alongside gas to keep the factory humming. Here’s what that looks like annually:

  • 2,040 MWh: Total clean electricity generated.
  • 16%: Of the factory’s daytime energy now comes from the sun.
  • 681 Tons: Of CO_2 emissions avoided (that’s the equivalent of planting thousands of trees).
  • 6,000+ Litres: of diesel saved.

Why This Matters

As Victor Ezenwoko, our Country Head, Nigeria and Ghana, puts it:

"Our partnership with Beta Glass reflects more than just a transition to solar energy, it’s about driving operational efficiency and unlocking cost savings while moving towards a more sustainable future."

Reliable energy shouldn't be a luxury for African industries, it should be the standard. We’re proud to partner with companies like Beta Glass that are tired of waiting for the "perfect" energy environment and are instead building it themselves.

What’s next?

We’re on a mission to transition West Africa’s industrial sector to hybrid solar, one factory at a time. If you’re tired of the "diesel dance" and want to see what solar can do for your overhead, let's talk.
